You may have seen in the news recently that the new rates of dementia were lower than past trends would suggest. However, with more than 200,000 new cases diagnosed each year in the UK and over 850,000 people suffering with it, dementia touches the heart of a lot of people.
We are therefore delighted to tell you that we have recently received some funding from the Pargiter Trust to take people living with dementia out for trips on Wetwheels. Our funding will enable us to take a total of 40 people for 3 trips each during the year whilst looking to monitor improvements from a repeat experience.
We are currently looking for a number of local Portsmouth based groups to take part in this amazing project. If you would like to find out more please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call 023 92 819366.
Wetwheels charity abseil – Bank Holiday Monday 30th May
With just over a month to go, our fundraising abseil down the Emirates Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth is almost upon us!
We have had an amazing response with all but 2 places left to fill and lots of sponsorship money already in. We are very proud of all those taking part and thank you so much for your support.
We would, however, love to fill those last couple of spaces so if anyone would like to help us raise some money whilst enjoying some amazing views from the top and doing something a bit daring, we would be delighted to hear from you.
For all those of you who aren’t quite brave enough to do this we would still love you to come and cheer them all on and say hello to us all here at Wetwheels!
We are also delighted to announce that one of our intrepid explorers Ed Stafford (star of Marooned on Discovery Channel & Walking the Amazon) will be there abseiling the tower for us too!
