An example of the new electric fihing reels
Everyone at Wetwheels has expressed their delight and thanks to
Portsmouth City Council who have awarded Wetwheels with a grant
from the Short Breaks Capital Grant fund. Specifically the
grant will go towards purchasing a range of adapted fishing
equipment, including electric fishing reels and it will also be
used to purchase a much needed heating system on the boat so
disabled guests can enjoy boating for longer, even when the weather
is not so good.
"We are absolutely delighted" said Geoff Holt, CEO of Wetwheels.
"Many of our disabled guests have very limited hand function so
having a set of electric fishing reels is going to be a great help.
If you are fishing, the last thing you want to do if you
catch a fish is to sk someone else to wind it in. Now everyone can
be more independent and can wind in their catch. We are also
over the moon to know we can now afford heating on the boat.
It means we will be able to stay out at sea longer and for
those guests who are affected by the cold, they can remain warm.
There's nothing worse than being cold at sea, you quickly get
tired and lose interest. It also means we can extend our season
throughout the winter instead of restricting our winter-time
activities. We are extremely grateful to Portsmouth City
Council for supporting us."
